A couple of weeks ago we received at Cuerdas Pulsadas a statement from Aquila Corde, in which they indicated the complete replacement of the gauges smaller of the new nylgut for a new improved batch (from 0.36 to 0.46). The most significant improvements are the increase in the resistance of the material (to avoid breakage), as well as the change that had generated the most controversy in recent months, the brightness of the strings. The official communication was very clear in this regard: […] “I was able to improve the quality of the rectified NNG types in the range 36 till 46 gauge. They does not breack like before. I would like to replace all the strings of your  stock of this range that, at present, are polished smooth version.” [..]   The truth is that the version that we knew up to now had caused great controversy in the plucked string community. The aesthetic changes were obvious, but the sound was not very well received either. Perhaps one of the most widespread criticisms was that of the lute player Miguel Yisrael, who tried to encourage the community to urge a change in the production of these calibers. In Aquila Corde they listened to these positions and modified the production to re-conceive strings that would please the musicians again.   miguel yisrael     In short, a new era for nylgut treble begins. In Cuerdas Pulsadas we have already replaced all the strings that we had in stock with this new batch, so that all our stock in the indicated gauges is already of the new version . Here are some photos of the strings received, some of them show the differences with the previous batch.
To finish, just indicate that the envelopes of the previous strings have been reused in this replacement process, which has implied directly manipulating these covers. The appearance of these strings is similar to what you can see in this photo. New Nylgut for lute
