Silver plated copper wound gut (BFA)

The Italian Savarez family moved to France in 1770, where they founded the company, which is known worldwide nowadays, and whose original activity was based on gut and gimped strings.

From 1880, its catalog expands with the use of new materials such as steel, bronze and brass. In 1930 the company began with the production of nylon strings, applying new calibration and control techniques to improve accuracy.

The Savarez BFA wound gut strings (silver plated copper wound gut strings) are more especially intended for bowed instruments but also used on lutes, vihuelas.

They are the natural complement to and match perfectly with plain gut strings to give a perfect balance and sound homogeneity.

Like the plain gut strings they offer indisputable sound qualities and perfect intonation.

These wound strings are composed of a thicker gut core wrapped with a smaller proportion of metal , thus giving a warmer round sound.

As they use traditional techniques of production there is no interface (no silk layer wound on the gut core) except for 4 strings referred under codes BFA484 - BFA854 - BFA934 - BFA 1474.

These Savarez BFA wound gut strings are wounded with silvered plated copper (Savarez BFC wound gut strings are also available, gut strings wounded with copper).
