Now available at Cuerdas Pulsadas gut sets and gutting on silk Silk by Aquila Corde.

Until the middle of the 20th century, guitar strings were manufactured exclusively with gut for the highs and wound on silk for the basses, where the acoustic result of this arrangement was very different from that obtained with the synthetic configurations that are used today. The treble gut stringing is characterized by a high presence and brightness of its strings, certainly superior to nylon and in some respects more similar to that of PVF, while the silver-plated copper wound on silk has an exquisite vocal quality, with less shine and sustain than current nylon wound strings. Gut-Silk games have been made with uniform tension, typical of the Llobet y Tárrega era, following with historical rigor the materials and characteristics of the time, as indicated by Emilio Pujol in his “Escuela razonada de la guitarra”, 1934.
